Geoffrey Homes was a pseudonym for Daniel Mainwaring (1902-1977), an American novelist and screenwriter. He was born in California, and held various jobs, including fruit picker, private investigator, and reporter, before turning to writing in the thirties. In 1946 he began working full-time as a movie and TV screenwriter- and produced the script for the sci-fi classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), and Out of the Past (1947), based on his own novel, Build My Gallows High.
